Mammal #1
MAMMAL is a pictorial dispatch from the front lines of the mind in which all contributors involved produce illustrations, comics and visual editorials that interpret, explore, assault, confront, or straight up disrespect a singular chosen idea. For our maiden issue, we concerned ourselves with the idea of “newness”—suggestions, situations and possibilities that had not existed before today and still maintain the daisy-fresh smell of a newborn’s powdered rump. In perusing the finished product, ideas of newness and novelty have been expanded to include things perhaps never before considered. “Newness” now means going to war, perverted archetypes, lost gumshoes, arm wrestling, talking limbs, a more precarious kind of virginity, medical and fashion anomalies, undiscovered countries, negotiating with unruly primates, report cards, late revelations and the end of the world. Certainly a lot to process, so to lend some additional support, we’ve constructed a self-help column that runs incrementally throughout the issue that will provide useful guidance and glowing insight in dealing with truly epic moments. We thought it best to offer this free advice as part of our full-service package of artistic wonder.
Presently, our most significant hopes for MAMMAL are that we produce a second issue and that you moderately enjoy our first one.
